13 may 2003 tuesday

a day of bits and bobs.

1. Reading Moby's journal alerted me to this:

stop the FCC ... from going through with a rule change to let media companies own bigger shares of media markets (45%, up from 35% of a given market) and more than one TV station, newspaper etc. in the same market. Yeah, that's just what we need for healthy public discourse, more media consolidation.

2. I have also learned of a serious upcoming threat to my already shaky time-management skills: Middle-earth Online, coming in "late 2004," they say.

droooool. There seem to be two official sites; this one is where the forums live.

here is an interview with a developer.

one problem: they describe it as a "PC CD-ROM game". DAMMIT. They're going to make me, a Mac user since 1984, buy a PC just so I can play Middle Earth Online?

Because, depending on the final shape of the game... I might.
