Have you ever read Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino? If not, you should; either way, read Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman, who speaks of worlds where time works differently in a style akin to how Calvino's Marco Polo describes cities to Kubla Khan. I found (and read, and bought, and finished) Einstein's Dreams today. Both of these books make me so, so happy.
