in re the apparently imminent civil-rights milestone of legal same-sex civil marriage (or "union" or whatever the official term is/will be) in Canada, good on Canada. I look forward to the boggling of certain persons' minds on this side of the border as they are presented with perfectly valid Canadian marriage licenses, and the continued nudging forward of progress that I hope will follow the inevitable debates. It may take one or two more decades, here, of kids increasingly growing up with friends and peers who are less and less afraid to be themselves, before all is good, but who knows, maybe it won't take quite that long.
