Today I have learned about, and by myself achieved, the mending of a pair of pants where a thread along a waist seam had broken twice, and the mending of a bra hook loop (another broken/unraveling thread problem). I can do something productive with a needle, thread, and a thimble, and a hook thingy that you pull the broken thread out with, and a tiny pair of scissors shaped like a heron that cuts thread with its beak! I feel so accomplished.

as all of my female ancestors roll their eyes in unison, at their 30-year-old descendant's inordinate pride in doing something that they could do before they were ten.
