unexpected bonus of an afternoon/evening spent out with a couple other people at dinner/movie: i am now the inordinately proud possessor of three balloons, two red and one white. plus the round weight with a happyface on it which is keeping them from bobbing at my ceiling. though i appreciated it outdoors, where my childhood fears of balloon loss continue to this day, indoors i feel that balloons should be free to bob at ceilings if they so choose, certainly if they are in a room with closed and/or screened windows. providing their ribbons/strings are long enough to be reached when needed. cause you might need to grab one to lightly "punch"-bag it, or talk into it so that you sound like you're on a p.a. system, or just gather the bunch of them (this works better with more than three) and pull them all down around you so that you are in the middle of a bobbing crowd of colors. or you can just hold the leashes of the whole bunch and stare up at them for a small while, maybe walking around outside some (if they are securely fastened to you or to something like this weight) and looking behind you as you walk, watching them float and sway and bounce in the breeze. i even like the word "balloon" itself, it might be nearly half the fun. bah-LOOOOOOOOOOOOON. no no, i didn't drink a thing but water. 'tis time for bed, however. ps: A Mighty Wind is a funny movie; go see it.
