reason #308 why I love KCRW: this morning they played the adjective song from Schoolhouse Rock. "He was a hairy bear ... he was a scary bear ... we beat a hasty, retreat from his lair ... And described him, with Adjectives!" Schoolhouse Rock both helped and tripped me in our eighth-grade government assignment to memorize the preamble to the Constitution. A couple of read-throughs of the text, and the song was back in my head well enough -- but they left the phrase "of the United States" (right after "We the People") out of the song, for rhythm's sake, which meant I messed up on the quiz anyway. Oh well. I certainly know it NOW. and I guess that was the whole point, after all.
