I just this week learned of the existence of a twenty-seven-year-old painter named Jeremy Lipking, a Southern California native whose work reminds me strongly of John Singer Sargent's (indeed, he cites Sargent as one of his influences). If I ever happen to get enough money to engage in expensive-art collecting, Lipking will be on the list.
