31 october 2003 friday

Yesterday the wind had changed, and for the first time in a week there was normal clear blue sky with lots of puffy clouds in it; the smoke apparently decided to go to Las Vegas for a little change. A bit of rain also sprinkled on me for a moment on the drive home.

Between the highway near Arrowhead that the fire jumped, and the 300+ homes there that it took out, according to my dad's mapreading, lay the Lake Arrowhead Boy Scout camp, which my brother's/dad's troop has been to many summers, and even I've visited. My mom was a bit put out that there would not have been any mention of it on the TV or radio she's had on constantly, if indeed it has burned.

Hey. I hear rain. (goes to check) Yep. Actual rain. Cold outside too. Yeah yeah, by LA standards, but our rainy weather does normally come down from the Frozen North. ...getting harder. Yay! I hope it's raining on the fires too.

hmm. this may put a bit of a damper on outdoor Halloween parties if it keeps up though. Oh well; the fires are more important.

I'm going to be a nurse for Halloween, using my grandma King's actual Gray Lady uniform. The Gray Ladies were Red Cross volunteer nursing aides, during WW2 in my grandma's case. The only part of the costume I'm lacking is a pair of white sensible shoes. Black Mary Janes will be substituting, and will work better at a party anyway.

Hmm. Tomorrow is November 1, and I don't have the November background set up yet, nor do I even know which picture I shall use. But I'll have to worry about that this weekend.

I guess that's enough randomness for one morning.
