Rain today! Darker the farther towards work I drove, till finally the drops began hitting my windshield roundabout Hollywood. pit. pat. pit pat. pitta patta pat pit pit ptatatatataTATATATAT.

Then it subsided a bit for me to enter the gate and walk in from the parking lot, which was considerate. Judging by the Doppler Storm Watch local news enthusiasms it ought to be starting up again any time now. They say we might even get some thunderstorm(s).

Thunder and lightning always makes me feel as if I ought to be able to get out of school for the special occasion. We didn't exactly get out of school during the big winter storms of my early elementary school days, but it wasn't quite school day as usual. Dark, loud, exciting, different. And of course huge puddles to jump in. That's half the fun right there.

Ah, there we go, it's beginning, I hear it: the drips from the eaves, a noise that might be thunder.... well, maybe it's an airplane instead. But it's the long echo of an airplane flying through storm-clouded skies. Rain, we shall have rain today.
