Still tweaking the yellow. Maybe I should change one of the colors slightly each day of this month. Or not.

Yesterday in Santa Monica it was a beautiful day. I like the Third Street Promenade a lot, at least the idea of it, even if most of the restaurants are kind of on the pricey side. Or maybe I'm just a rustic homebody unused to the big city. Anyway, the sky was blue, the sun was warm, and it was lovely walking around. We had just seen Before Sunset at the indie theater on 2nd Street, and as we wandered in the summerday looking for a good food place, I kept noticing all the apartments above street-level retail spaces -- I was about to say "kind of like Paris" but of course Santa Monica is not much like Paris. As populations keep growing, I think there are worse directions to go than apartments and condos above street-level businesses. It seems about the best that could be hoped for in the way of coziness in a city, a sense of neighborhoods. If only we could get some more fast trains to zip us around this particular greater metropolitan area.
