Like I said, the patio looks weird without the stairs.

Meanwhile, up top of the ladder, the changes were less drastic: the plywood with the hole is gone, but the roof beams and insulation are staying. I think.

Completely unexpected, however, was the large hole in my wall...

...through which I could see a few tiny bits of sky.

I forgot to explain yesterday why this wall thing happened. They moved a group of cabinets that had been stacked floor-to-ceiling in the living room there pretty much since the old remodeling. When they moved them, they discovered mondo water damage down the wall behind, with plaster glooping off onto the backs of the cabinets and such. This corresponded with some significant damage on my side of that wall, which we already knew about. So they decided, best to remove it altogether and put up new drywall. Or just "drywall," since the old version was that plaster-on-chickenwire setup that you seem to find on older houses.

Meanwhile, the improved view out the window is the bright side of the stairs' departure.
