8 July 2002: yankee doodle

i am just now back from england. i am very tired. i like trains. i do not like cabs. and english cabs are even so cute to look at, but i don't want to be inside one. nothing personal (or, perhaps, too personal). i am viscerally instinctively uncomfortable with them. but i love love love trains. no matter how creaky and clanky and grimy and rattley, trains have mapped-out routes with fixed stops and known schedules and you get in and out as you like within those boundaries. train travel does not force you to deal directly with a total stranger, who is controlling your destiny, as if you really had any idea what is going on in this strange city in which you find yourself. don't get me wrong, i don't like l.a. cabs either. i just don't like cabs. at least when i'm alone. if i'm with other people who know what they're doing and can lead me by example or explanation, then fine. but i really prefer trains.

just so you know.

24 June 2002: 37.7% pure

I dunno, I prefer to think of the "pure/corrupt" dichotomy the other way round. I suppose that's a symptom.

5 June 2002: cha-cha-ching

still alive. busy. spring sprang sproing. running round weekends, et cetera. sun! heat! becoming obvious that it's summer, what with the drifting pall of smoke from the saugus (?) fire, floating orangey past the late afternoon sun and leaving bits of ashes on my car. good times, as they say.

and i'm making a bit of money on ebay, for a change, instead of spending it. woohoo! go spring cleaning.

16 May 2002: far far away

oh yeah. there's a certain movie opening today huh. you can tell it has been supplanted by certain other things in my primary consciousness. I remembered on Tuesday that I ought to get a ticket, but I was too late: all the non-work-time shows at the Village for today were already sold out, even the 5:30 am. Oh well. I'll just see it sometime this weekend.

1 May 2002: squeeky squeeky squizzzz

I actually saw this yesterday, but was focusing on getting home in time for Buffy and then afterwards I'd forgotten. : Another entry in the cutest-license-plate contest - a bright yellow Saturn with the plate RBR DCKY.
