8 january 2004 thursday

Two sort-of-birthdays in the family this week, "sort of" because both of them are now dead. My dad's mom would have been 107 (I think) on Tuesday; unfortunately she died the year before I was born, though at least we have her voice on some audio tapes, as I think I may have mentioned here before.

bro scanned a pic of her, which is unfortunately rather dark and hard to see, for his family history sequence.

The other birthday, and I hope it is not disrespectful to discuss both of these at the same time, is that of our family dog. I am not 100% sure that January 8 was her birthday; it might have been the 12th or 13th. Anyway, sometime round now. She wasn't one to complain if we got it wrong.

It's black-bordered because at the time I first put up that image, my page had a black background. Not entirely irrelevant now, though.

I can say that I miss our dog, because I knew her. Less potential for long interesting conversations, perhaps, but good for warm fuzziness and a friendly lick on the face. I'm glad we were able to grow up with her.
